Namdhari Seeds acquires Dutch seed breeding firm Axia for an undisclosed sum

Updated - February 14, 2025 10:51 pm IST - Bengaluru

Namdhari Seeds, a Karnataka-based vegetable and flower seeds breeding company, has acquired 100% stake in the open field vegetable seed business of Axia, a Dutch vegetable seeds breeding company.

Axia produces tomatoes, hot and sweet peppers, melons, watermelons, cucumbers, squash, and eggplant in its open fields and these seeds are marketed under the US Agriseeds brand across North America, South America, West Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Even after the acquisition, Namdhari’s Group will continue to use the US Agriseeds brand in these markets with the existing customers and distributors, the company said. As part of the acquisition, Catalyst Seeds, New World Seeds, and California Hybrids will now be part of Namdhari Seeds.

Gurmukh Roopra, CEO, Namdhari’s, “The acquisition of US Agriseeds marks a pivotal step in the Namdhari Seeds journey to expand its footprint and become a significant player in the global vegetable seeds market.” Namdhari’s, however, refused to divulge the size of the acquisition citing a non-disclosure clause.
